LA NATURE COMME HERITAGE
They have lived on this earth for over 60 million years. Feet in the sand, a few kilometers from the ocean. They have withstood all the storms and all the follies of men. They gave us their greatest gift, an incredible material, with countless uses. It took men, the heirs of a long forgotten tradition, to revive and sublimate cork. Today we are proud to present the first pad made from French cork oaks. At the heart of a relocated industry, our mission is to support and perpetuate French know-how by offering surfers the best alternative to preserve the ocean.
Une production locale
The cork industry in Gascony is now in full revival. By working with French companies, we want to promote know-how and encourage the local economy. The Region and the Department of Landes are mobilizing to relaunch this sector.
Our partner is a company labeled “ Living Heritage “, a mark of recognition from the State set up to distinguish French companies with exceptional know-how. This pad is an exceptional product.
Innovation serving the environment
At NOMADS we want to offer eco-designed but also innovative products.
This is why for all our tail pad models, the tail is separated, which can be placed alone on the board.
We also wanted to offer a special model, the PROGRESSION PAD, designed to allow surfers in full progress to learn how to better place their back foot on the board for better control.
He settles on his board in two stages.
1- The heel and the first part are glued only. This will force the surfer to move his foot back if he wants to feel the grip of the cork and thus adopt the correct placement of his back foot.
2- Once this positioning has become second nature, he can add the second part of the pad to allow a greater range of motion.
Un impact environnemental minime
Our traction pads, made in the Landes, are made from 65% recycled corks, 20% cork scrap and 15% Landes cork bark. The circular economy is at the heart of our challenges and offering products made from recycled materials allows us to reduce the carbon footprint of our pad by 62% compared to a virgin EVA foam traction pad from Asia.
Recycled corks are sorted, cleaned, crushed and then agglomerated directly at our suppliers. Natural cork comes from the Landes culture, the most northerly of Europe. We can thus offer you an accessory which will have traveled less than 300km for its manufacture.
