Every year, 12.7 million tonnes of plastic end up in the oceans – the equivalent of a garbage truck every minute. However, the smallest piece of plastic is a threat to biodiversity because it can trap, suffocate, strangle and kill marine animals.

At Nomads we want to propose projects with positive impact by committing ourselves to waste recovery, eco-design and responsible production. That’s how the Nomads Surfing leash was born, created from end-of-life materials like seatbelts and neoprene suits.

Neoprene at the end of its life

End-of-life neoprene is a real problem for the surf industry.
Difficult to recycle and often buried in landfill, we propose a concrete solution by reusing parts of wetsuits for the manufacture of our leash straps. We then grind the rest of the combination to agglomerate it into a new material.

Un impact environnemental minime

To further reduce our impact on the environment, our leashes are made in France.
The rope is extruded in the north of France. The castings near Thiers. Finally the sewing is done in Bordeaux and the final assembly in our workshop.

The rope is made of partially recycled TPU (40%).
The strap is composed of safety belts recovered from scrap yards and neoprene suits at the end of their life.
