Eco design

We develop and offer sustainable products that use the least impactful resources possible and have an optimal life cycle. This is done with the aim of limiting our overall environmental footprint and offering surfers a real alternative for a sustainable future.

Responsible production

We manufacture our surfboards and accessories in Europe within a 1000km radius of our headquarters.

Producing in Europe is important to Nomads Surfing in order to be as close as possible to our partners, to promote the local economy, and to ensure that social conditions are at the level of European standards.

Producing responsibly using recycled, recyclable and/or natural materials is a major challenge for us in order to limit our environmental footprint as much as possible.

Our vision for a sustainable economy is based on local, French, and European production. We work every day to find local partners to manufacture our products.

Producing surf accessories in France is no easy feat when 95% of these accessories come from Asia. Finding the right synergies and the right partners is a challenge in a globalized surf industry, and we are proud to succeed in making our products.

Being as close as possible to our suppliers allows us to exchange and work effectively with them to quickly develop our products and best meet the expectations of surfers.

Our manufacturing sites

Transportation

As part of our responsible production approach, we also strive to ensure our products are delivered by carriers that care about their impact. For example, La Poste in France now uses only electric vehicles for deliveries. We have equipped ourselves with a fleet of hybrid and electric vehicles in partnership with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles to further reduce our emissions.

Best practices

We are working on implementing a charter for our suppliers regarding good social and environmental practices related to the production of our products. Our development and growth will allow us to implement initiatives alongside them.

Our impact

Our shows today

To date, we have not conducted a full carbon footprint assessment of our activities (SCOP1, 2, and 3). This is a project we hope to undertake quickly with the support of the Nouvelle Aquitaine region and ADEME in order to have a starting point for understanding our emissions.

Life cycle analysis

Today we completed the life cycle analysis of our EVO boards, our fishing net fins, and our cork traction pads. Our goal is to conduct LCAs for all of our surf products. We use ADEME's impact database to conduct these assessments.

Surfboards

We want to collaborate with all stakeholders in the surfing industry to guarantee consumers real transparency on the impact of their surfboard.

Our objectives

We strive to offer products in a circular economy. We use recycled and/or bio-sourced materials and work to extend the lifespan of our products. You can resell your used Nomads products and buy second-hand products using our ReSurf service. You can also rent our products. All of this helps increase the lifespan of our products.

The labels

We want to collaborate with all stakeholders in the surfing industry to guarantee consumers real transparency on the impact of their surfboard.

Raw materials

Surfboards: They are made from recycled and 100% recyclable polystyrene (EPS) foam. The resin is 40% bio-sourced.

Also known as ghost nets, they contribute to marine pollution. Collected in France and Spain, they are processed to serve as raw material for our fins.

Collected in France, their recycling allows us to manufacture our pads. Natural, waterproof, durable, and biodegradable, cork is the perfect material for surfers.
