Environmental protection

In addition to being a committed surf brand, we have put our commitments at the heart of our DNA since the beginning of the adventure by donating 5% of our online sales to ocean protection associations.

Our mission is to participate, on our scale, in the protection of the Ocean and its ecosystems.

The ocean plays a vital role in our livelihoods. A true lung of our planet, it provides, for example, more than half of the oxygen we breathe.

It is also an important source of food and medicine, and is an essential element of the biosphere.

Since 2018, we have donated more than 25,000 euros to our partner associations and thus been able to raise public awareness of the fundamental place it occupies in our ecosystem, and the threats it faces due to human activities.

Today we support projects on three key themes: ecosystem protection, awareness-raising in schools, and coral reforestation.

Our 3 supported associations

Sea Shepherd

Founded in 1977 by Captain Paul Watson, SEA SHEPHERD is the world's most aggressive ocean conservation organization. Sea Shepherd works on three main axes: Moving beyond mere protest to actively and nonviolently intervening in cases of illegal attacks on marine life and ecosystems. Water Family

The Water Family association Du Flocon à la Vague, recognized as being of general interest, works to preserve water, our health and all living things.

The Coral Planters

The association's mission is to protect marine ecosystems through coral restoration, awareness and education, and scientific research.

The One Ocean For All movement, a movement for the Ocean

Every minute, the equivalent of a truckload of plastic is dumped into the ocean. This is why we decided to launch the One Ocean For All movement in 2021.

The objective in initiating this project was to bring together all the organizations that share the desire and common goal of protecting our planet by launching a call for donations to support associations that are working on the ground.

Supported by BCorp, La FrenchTech, the Rescue Ocean Foundation and the Ministry of the Sea, the movement initiated by Nomads Surfing in June 2022 brought together more than ten companies and associations.

More than 6,000 euros were collected throughout France, which allowed us to subsidize the three associations selected this year to carry out programs on awareness, preservation of the coral reef and beach cleaning:

Hello Little Jellyfish

This is a group of Breton surfers who go on independent surf trips to remote spots. While exploring these isolated areas, they realized they were facing social, environmental, and ecological challenges. This realization inspired them to get involved.

In August 2019, they traveled to Sri Lanka to introduce children to surfing, a sport that carries values, and also to offer former surfers the opportunity to rekindle their passion on new equipment. It was also an opportunity to raise awareness about first aid and to free themselves from the stresses of everyday life.

In August 2021, after a year stuck in France due to COVID, they embarked on an extraordinary adventure at Sarah Occidental where, equipped with their Nomads surfboards, they went to distribute equipment from remote corners of Morocco. This was an opportunity for us to support them financially and with a donation of equipment, as we offered several sets of surf fins.

The Paddle Paddle Surf Project

The association collects surfboards and accessories, which will be repaired and sent to countries around the world, and uses surfing to raise awareness of social and environmental issues.

After Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Morocco and Colombia, the next project is the opening of a surf school in Ghana which will allow women and children to emancipate themselves through practice.

So, in 2021, we donated €500 to help cover some of their expenses. A wonderful project that we are proud to support.

Grain of sand

Founded in 2005, the Grain de Sable humanitarian association, located in Mérignac, Gironde, carries out solidarity projects and trips to disadvantaged populations in Benin, Burkina Faso and Cambodia.

These trips allow you to combine on-the-ground engagement with discovery of the country, its inhabitants and its customs.

Since 2021, we have been in contact with the association which collects end-of-life flip-flops on site during their humanitarian trips and helps to finance and support the local population.

The flip-flops, washed and cut, are then brought back to France when the members of the association return to our headquarters where we manufacture our new pads.

Social Development

Because there is no climate justice without social justice, we have decided to support social projects that are close to our hearts.

This is a plastic recycling workshop initiated by Dave Hakkens, who comes straight from the Netherlands. His mission is: To enable plastic waste to be reprocessed and given a second life using machines that you can build yourself. And this time, no patent, all the information is available for free online, it is a 100% open source project.

Three years ago, we took the plunge and are now equipped with our own machines. Today, we offer a participatory plastic recycling workshop that allows us to recycle waste and raise awareness. A fun and participatory workshop for adults and children alike, to better understand the challenges of the circular economy.
